The Duncan Wood Trio plays with the looseness of a jazz trio and the songcraft of a Nashville folk record. A new indie-folk three-piece. The songs come from Wood's 2023 album Away With Words. In three pairs of hands they come apart and land differently every night.

The first time Duncan and Sam played together, they found a shared love of Jaco Pastorius. It changed the shape of the band. Sam will quote Jaco's bell-like harmonics in an open passage. Duncan answers in the voice or on the guitar. Ryan responds to the phrasing with an orchestration move on the kit. A feedback loop. It only happens when every member carries storytelling weight.

The band is rehearsed and seeking its first shows in Nashville and the Southeast.

Nashville drummer by way of Lexington, Kentucky. Genre-fluid session player whose first love is metal. This project is him 'playing quiet.' Also plays with Landon Wall, Love Side RX, and Trippin Roots.

Duncan Wood

Songwriter, engineer, and PhD Physicist. Produced his 2023 album Away With Words with late collaborator Zach Moses, a Grammy-nominated upright bassist. Assembled the Butterfly Effect tribute compilation in Moses's memory, featuring Louis Cole.

Nashville bassist by way of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Countermelodic player with big ears and rock-solid feel. Also plays in Multi Ultra, recent Lightning 100 Local Artist of the Week.
